HostingPlex Review

HostingPlex has it all - dedicated hosting, VPS hosting, reseller hosting, even hosted exchanges, and then, of course, the focus of this review: shared hosting. This downtown Toronto-based subsidiary of Inverdigm IT services has brought vital web-related services to thousands of clients since 2000 - across all platforms and regardless of the clients' degree of experience (or lack thereof) in website administration. Their feature set is substantial as is their storage and bandwidth allotments. And where most web hosts give you a fair number (even a generous number) of email accounts, subdomains, and parked domains, Hostingplex gives you all three in unlimited quantities. Hostingplex is a generous host - providing an abundance of tools and resources that anyone, from the most experienced webmaster to the greenest novice, can make effective and profitable use of.

Price Value
The real deal at Hostingplex is their $7.95 per month package which gives you more disk space and bandwidth than you'll know what do with, and lets you disperse it amongst an unlimited number of sites. It also comes with the option of having a Dedicated IP. Most significantly, perhaps, in the benefits of this plan over its cheaper counterpart is that it includes telephone customer support. The $3.95 per month plan only gives you email support.

Regardless of which Hostingplex plan you choose, though, you'll get a collection of e-commerce features vital to anyone planning on selling products or services online. You'll also get unlimited email accounts (with webmail access) and unlimited MySQL databases, FTP and Shell access, FrontPage extensions, PHP4 support, and a graphical website statistics tool.

Additionally, both plans include all the software you need to create fully interactive websites, with chat capabilities, guestbooks, forms, forums, image and photo galleries, surveys and pools, blogs, auctions, and your site's own comprehensive customer support "department".

Reliability
Rather than renting or leasing servers, Hostingplex owns the IBM xSeries Dual Xeon servers that will run your sites. These servers, with MCI/Verizon Tier 1 connectivity, are housed in an enterprise storage area network with Biometric fingerprint scans required for access, security cameras everywhere, top rated fire suppression and HVAC/AC systems, and proactive data center monitoring.

Control Panel
HostinpPlex use the cPanel control panel, quite probably the most popular web-based control panel on the web hosting market. cPanel displays all your website stats in the main window for your easy perusal. Alongside it is a series of large, colorful buttons representing each of the functions at your disposal, all neatly formatted and intuitively categorized to make mastery over website administration easy for anyone.

Customer Support
Hostingplex only offers telephone support to customers in the $7.95/mo plan (called "S2") and even so, only during regular business hours. They do not offer after hours support at all, it appears. And they offer zero telephone support to customers on the "S1" plan.

All customers, however, get access to a complete SupportSuite that includes a self-guided Troubleshooter, a bunch of handy downloadable user docs, a fully-searchable Knowledgebase, Hostingplex news updates (also available as an XML feed), and most importantly, email query ticket support.
