GoDaddy web hosting is, frankly, massive. The web company known for its celebrity endorsements and wealth of services has a global reach and legions of customers. So the question becomes: should you follow the crowd?

Well, there is strength in numbers … and GoDaddy has proven that it has real staying power. With several web hosting packages to choose from and a long list of additional services (things like search engine optimisation, marketing, security and more. GoDaddy web hosting is consistently evolving, as well. Where the proprietary control panel once received mixed reviews, today's version is far easier to use. And they've just announced a new level of reliability for their “fourth generation” web hosting packages.

GoDaddy's economy web hosting plans really will fit in almost any budget. The deluxe and ultimate plans include more space and more options – and still cost less than many starter plans on the market today. The deluxe plan – still less than $10/month – may be the best deal, with 150 MB of disk space, unlimited data transfer, 25 MySQL databases and unlimited subdomains. Powerful stuff!

While GoDaddy is not an Australian company, it has carefully developed its services to offer Australians around-the-clock support, reliable, fast service, and a price that is tough to beat in a competitive market.

Price Value

GoDaddy web hosting is as great a deal in Australia as it is everywhere else in the world. GoDaddy is one of the biggest players on the web hosting market, and this offers distinct benefits: a wide range of services, a long list of options, lower shared hosting costs, and proven staying power.

GoDaddy's fourth-generation web hosting plans start at less than $5/month. For that low low price you'll get 10 GB of disk space, unlimited monthly data transfer, 100 email addresses, 10 MySQL databases, 25 subdomains and a looong list of features. There are many ways to upgrade your basic plan, too – if you're looking for an SSL certificate, site scanner or other options, you can easily add this to your package for additional fees.

Reliability

Go Daddy web hosting promises 99.9% guaranteed network uptime with any of its fourth-generation plans. The fourth-generation plans boast a multi-server hosting cluster with four times the number of servers in GoDaddy's previous configurations. As such, GoDaddy's cloud-hosting platform is even better prepared to scale up and absorb traffic spikes.

All systems are monitored 24/7/365. GoDaddy operates data centres in the US, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, offering fast service around the globe. GoDaddy data centres feature full network redundancy and best-of-breed routers, firewalls and servers.

Control Panel

GoDaddy has its own proprietary control panel, which is included in all shared hosting plans. The control panel, which once received poor reviews, has been much improved in recent years. There are the expected menus of tasks and options – domain names, email, websites, customer information and so on. While it may not be the prettiest layout on the market, the GoDaddy control panel does provide the basic tools you need to maintain your web hosting plan.

One thing all customers should be aware of – there are multiple screens with offers of additional add-on features. If you're not looking to build up your site, simply scroll down to the bottom of each and click “no thanks” to any offers that appear.

A note for those who may expand: GoDaddy's virtual and dedicated server customers will have access to the favourite Plesk and/or cPanel control panels.

Customer Support

GoDaddy's Australian operations offer web hosting customers 24/7 support via phone and email. Watch the phone calls, though, as GoDaddy does not have a toll-free customer service line.

Go Daddy does, however, have an active online community, discussion forums, help guides, user groups and a library of help articles.
