How to Improve Your YouTube Video Ranking

  • July 25, 2013

The best way to increase the ranking of your YouTube video is simple: produce a really great video that people will find useful, interesting, original, and intriguing.  Content is king, and it applies to videos as well.

Once you’ve done that, there are a two main things you should keep in mind which will help increase the ranking of your video on YouTube.

The first step is generating ideas for keywords. Look at similar videos on YouTube. What kinds of words are in their title? How are people searching for those videos? Once you have a list of keywords, try it out in YouTube. Do those keywords get you to the kinds of videos that are directly related to the one you’ve created? If so, you’ll want to ensure you use those keywords in the title of your video, as well as any other written content on the page.

Another easy way to increase your YouTube ranking is by commenting on similar videos. When you leave meaningful comments on other channels, it creates back-links to your own YouTube video channel. This helps to increase your ranking, and your video’s chance of exposure.

If you work to optimize your keywords and publish meaningful comments on other YouTube channels, your YouTube video rankings will rise. Are there any other tactics you use to increase the rankings of your videos?
